KidsThe JCISD delivers a wide range of services for special education students throughout Jackson County -- both within the various school buildings in the 12 districts we serve, as well as at the ISD-operated Torrant Center and Kit Young Center. The ISD works with students from ages  0-26 (per state law) in specially-equipped classrooms and in programs that deliver the latest in proven techniques. The ISD's Special Education Department has programs for students with:
  • Cognitive Impairment (CI)
  • Physical Impairment (PI)
  • Otherwise Health Impaired (OHI)
  • Early Childhood Developmental Delay (ECDD)
  • Emotional Impairment (EI)
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)  

 

We help families connect with other services available in the county while providing support services ourselves from a broad spectrum of caring professionals, including:

  • Physical Therapists
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Mobility Specialists
  • Psychologists
  • Teacher Consultants
  • Audiologists
